Hillary Clinton's 35 point victory in Kentucky coupled with her landslide victory in West Virginia, would not have come to fruition but for her tremendous support among women and White working class voters.

Obama's Kentucky Problem

As a matter of fact, Hillary has won more votes than anyone running for the Democratic nomination in the history of the Democratic Party, and she added to her popular vote lead last night. Most importantly she has won states that will total 308 electoral votes in November -- more than enough to carry the general election.

Despite her impressive victories, her strong showing in vital swing states, and her overwhelming support among key voting groups, the media retches up the drumbeat for Obama, determined to have the final say in this historical race. Yet voters continue to send a message to those who want this race to be over, they are more determined than the media to keep this race alive. The pundits may have their way in this election, but the voters will have the final say.

Hillary will continue her quest to make certain the more than 2 million voters in Florida and Michigan are heard when she meets with the credentials committee on May 31 in Washington D.C. Today she is pleading her cause throughout Florida. Then on to Puerto Rico where she is expected to add hundreds of thousands of votes to her popular vote lead. As she said in her victory speech last evening, "This race is far from over." Like Hillary, her supporters are true to their cause, they will never give up and they will never give in.

Yeah, it's like winning the last three quarters of a football game.  Why tabulate the total points when you can win on momentum.  Forget all about losing 11 in a row.  And forget that her math excludes four states, she's counting the important states.

March 4 - 31, April 1 - 30, and May 1 - 20 (up to 8 pm EDT) is the new metric. Contests prior to that don't count, and contests after Kentucky polls closed don't count.

It is getting ever harder to keep up with these things.

Money never translates 1 to 1 into votes.  What it does do is get your name out there.  Even if there's no way that he could make Appalachians vote for him over Clinton, he can still get them familiar with who he is and what he stands for.

People are complaining that he's not fighting for their votes... well he's not fighting for their votes from Clinton because it serves no purpose at this stage of the game.  She needs big wins for her fundraising, anyway.

Doesn't mean that he's written them all off for the general.  Hence the money spent on advertising.

Voters in West Virigina, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky know Barack Obama. They're familliar with who he is and what he stands for. That's the problem: They resoundly rejected everything he stands for by two-to-one margins.

Actually, it does carry over.  After the convention, however, no one can give more than $2300, even if they hadn't given a penny beforehand.

Still, at this rate (spending $4 million more than he takes in), he'll have to start worrying about running out of funds for the primaries somewhere around December.

That is very startling news that you came across. I thought the mighty Obama campaign was in control of their finances. She gets outspent 2 or even 3 to 1 in these contests and still he can't beat her. He is a very weak candidate.

He's beating McCain in Pennsylvania pretty handily in the latest poll, and in Indiana he lost the primary by less than the percentage of Clinton voters that would vote for McCain over Clinton in the fall.

Democrat Barack Obama entered May sitting comfortably atop more than $37 million in the bank. Republican John McCain had nearly $22 million in hand. Hillary Rodham Clinton, once the Democrats' presidential front-runner, was in the red.

Obama, moving closer to his party's nomination, let his fundraising slow only slightly last month and collected $31 million.

Conversely:

Clinton raised more than $21 million, but was saddled with debts.

Clinton reported only about $8 million cash on hand for the primary. (She has $22 million set aside for the general election that she can't use.) She also reported $19.5 million in debts, including $10 million she has lent her campaign. Even without the loan, Clinton was in negative cash position. The loan amount also did not include an extra $1.4 million she put into her campaign in May.

Given that there's no valid popular vote metric in a primary, and Obama has overtaken her in Superdelegate endorsements, and I have more change in my couch cushions that Hillary has cash in her campaign coffers, it looks she peaked sometime in early February.

Ok, for all intents and purposes, this race is effectively over. I am all for Clinton staying in through the June 3rd primaries, but even if Florida and Michigan are seated according to the Clinton campaign's metrics, she still loses. That's it. Those are the only facts that matter. She has earned the right to go through the last contests, but we're kidding ourselves if we say that it would change the outcome. Even if she were to win ALL pledged delegates outstanding, she'd still lose!

The media continued to obey Clinton's every word throughout February and even after it became a near mathmatical impossibility for her to win in March.

The media was in the tank for Clinton for most of the run.  I can't tell you how many times Clinton fooled them with her "firewall state" strategies.

Now they realize that they've been suckered time and time again because they were so caught up in the romance of the horse race, so they get effectively called "Judas".  It's okay for them, though, they got great ratings out of it.  I can understand why Clinton may be angry.  She only got debt out of the deal.  Curse the media for being so gullible!

First it was New Hampshire, and they said she was finished. Then she had to do real well on Super Tuesday, and after winning California, New York, New Jersy, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, and Arizona, that wasn't good enough and they said she was finished. Then they said she had to win Texas and Ohio, and when she did, they said that wasn't good enough and she was finished. Then they said she had to win Pennsylvania, and when she did, they said Sorry that is not good enough, your finished. Then they said she had to win Indiana, and when she did, they said, sorry but you had to win North Carolina too, your finished. Then she went on to landslide victories in WV and Kentucky, and they said, Oh that doesn't matter your finished. Time and Time again this woman has proven herself and all the media does is ridicule and humiliate her, is that sexist or biased, yeah your darn right it is.

The Clinton campaign spokesman Wolfson, said on CNN yesterday that they believe they have more than enough votes on the committee to include the Florida and Michigan votes. So if you couple those votes with the huge number of votes she will get in the PR primary on June 1, she will have a very sizable lead in the popular vote. So yes, that is looking very good for her.
